Orange County, California Awards ITS Contract to GTL
Sheriff’s Department host to second-largest inmate population in California
Reston, Virginia (PRNews) –June 23, 2015 – Global Tel*Link (GTL), the leading provider of integrated correctional technology solutions, announces that it has been awarded a contract to provide its Inmate Telephone System (ITS) to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in California. The OCSD houses the second-largest jail inmate population in California, with a daily average of about 5,600 inmates.
GTL, the incumbent ITS provider in Orange County, was awarded the contract after its proposal scored highest in terms of experience, qualifications, investigative tools, and ability to meet the requirements in the scope of work. The contract awarded is a three-year base contract with seven one-year options, for a total of up to 10 years.

As part of the new contract, GTL provided a technology update to the facilities, incorporating its market-leading ICMv inmate calling platform. With the new calling platform and associated technology upgrades, investigators in the county will be able to trace calls by inmate PIN and also utilize the industry’s most robust investigative analysis tool – GTL Data IQ™ – to perform advanced keyword searches, analyze calls, build customized reports, and more. This technology, to be implemented in phases, will aid investigators in their goal of maintaining safety and security within the county’s jail facilities.
GTL provides service to 90% of all inmates in California.
