Transportation Options

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the nearest airport to the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld hotel. The hotel is approximately a 15 to 20 minute drive from the airport. There are several options to get you to the hotel from the airport once you arrive:

Shared Shuttle
This is the best option for our attendees. The shared ride shuttle run by Mears (the same people who do the Disney busing) is normally $21 one way for a ride or $33 for the round trip. To help you out, we have negotiated with them to reduce the round-trip fare by $4 for all of our attendees. To get this discount, you can either register online at www.mears.com, click on the “Book Orlando Shuttle now” and use code 542723019 in the “Promo Code” box in the lower left corner. Alternately, if you plan to book over the phone or in person, bring this coupon with you when you go to register for your shuttle. You will be required to show the coupon or your online confirmation at the time of your ride in order to receive the discount. See the coupon for more details.

Taxi:
Taxi rides to the hotel are about $45 for a one-way trip to the International drive hotels like the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld. For a list of cab companies that operate at the airport and for more fare details, visit this page.

Rental Car:
Several car rental agencies also operate out of the airport, however please note that there is a parking fee of $22 per day (plus tax) at the hotel for guests. For a list of available rental car companies, click this link.

While you are at the hotel, if you are thinking of visiting the local sights like the 2 outlet malls, or the Orlando Eye, or Pointe Orlando, the I-ride trolley offers a convenient way to see these sights. Operating daily from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. the trolley stops at over 35 locations throughout Orlando. The cost for a ticket is just $5 per day and may be purchased in the Renaissance Orlando at Sea World lobby. Please note that purchasing tickets on the trolley only allows for one way fares which are $2 for each trip. We recommend purchasing the all day pass if you are taking the trolley. Here is a map of the locations the I-ride trolley stops. I highly recommend downloading the trolley app or visit the webpage that tracks their location so that you are not standing at a bus stop for any great length of time (trolleys come every 20-30 minutes).

For those wanting to visit Universal Studios or the Disney properties, please add the resort fee ($25) to your stay at the hotel (and enjoy additional amenities like 2 free bottles of water per day) and that shuttle will take you to those properties.

Location Detection: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

By: Eric Gonzalez, Executive Director, Inmate Telephones/Intel Tools/Training

PRNewsWire – GTL’s Location IQ® is a powerful intelligence application that pinpoints the location of a called party’s mobile device that receives calls from an inmate in a correctional facility. This is done in strict adherence with sensitive carrier privacy policies.

Using powerful, accurate carrier tower and GPS-based location services, Location IQ pinpoints a called party’s latitude/longitude coordinates and proximity to a facility utilizing all the major carrier networks and secondary carriers the called party may be on or the type of device they are using. Through the inmate telephone platform’s graphical user interface, investigators can see the location of the phone that was called and accepted in a readily accessible and usable format.

As an added control feature, Location IQ can be configured to establish a defined perimeter around the correctional facility—calls to phones within that perimeter can be blocked from connecting or can be allowed to connect while being monitored and recorded in real time by investigators.

Investigators can combat criminal activity, such as attempts at escape or at bringing contraband into a facility, by blocking calls between inmates and parties near the correctional facility, many of which are in remote areas.

GTL recognizes strict privacy guidelines concerning location-based services and requires a double opt-in from the end user receiving a call before the geo location of that end user’s device is captured. This means that users must repeatedly confirm that they agree to have the geo location of their mobile devices captured.

Other providers may not have the same safeguards—a sheriff was recently charged for misusing a competitor’s system to locate cellphones without legal approval and examining information about other law enforcement officers.

Last week, on Arizona Public Media, a live demonstration was made available and GTL never captures or provides the geo location of a mobile device without the appropriate opt-in by the end user. GTL’s systems require a system GUID that ties the request of a cell phone location directly to a call where the end user consented via a double opt-in when accepting the call. GTL strives to find tools that will make our clients successful in their investigative endeavors and will soon provide enhancements to its location-based services that expand the capabilities of this powerful tool.

We offer solutions that promote safety—the safety of correctional officers, the safety of inmates, the safety of the public, and the safety of facilities as institutions.

×

Investigative & Intelligence Solutions

Call & Voice Analysis

GTL’s IQ family of call and voice analysis products offer investigators a range of options for gathering actionable intelligence to combat fraud, criminal activity, and gang and terrorist recruitment by pinpointing the location of a called party, identifying phone type, detecting calls from multiple inmates to a single called party, and identifying inmates using voiceprints.

Data Analysis

GTL’s data analysis tools include a powerful data mining and link analysis application to identify actionable intelligence critical to ensuring a facility’s safety and security. They offer the ability to take any data source for the purposes of analysis, even including the detection of mobile devices and the extraction of its data.

Intelligence & Forensic Services

GTL’s Intelligence as a Service offering is flexible enough to meet the unique demands of individual facilities. Focused on the development of actionable intelligence, analysts are trained and equipped with the tools to analyze vast amounts of raw data to provide facilities with the proverbial “needle in a haystack.” Depending on facility needs, analysts can also be equipped to provide mobile device forensic services to extract data from legally seized contraband phones, thus assisting facilities in shutting down the supply of contraband.

×

Communication Solutions

Inmate Telephone Systems

GTL’s feature-rich Inmate Telephone System is a turnkey solution that comes complete with all hardware and software, including the telephone network, circuits, monitoring and recording system, call-control system, secure database, telephones, workstations, printers, and associated software.

Inmate Messaging

Message Link provides an electronic alternative to an otherwise inefficient and potentially tainted communication method. As contraband and cryptic messages are entering correctional facilities through an ever-rising level of creativity, Message Link provides a secure, controlled environment for inmate messaging.

Visitation Management

The GTL VisitMe video visitation solution allows facilities to transition traditional in-person visitation service to a more secure on-premise or remote alternative. This highly scalable solution can help facilities improve security while reallocating staff time to more critical tasks.

VisitMe Scheduler can eliminate long queues in the visitation area by avoiding the chaos of having a high volume of concurrent visitors at the facility. In so doing, the system also minimizes staffing requirements.

×

Inmate Services

Education & Information

Education Link allows inmates to take advantage of several electronic learning initiatives while monitoring and reporting each inmate’s progress so adjustments can be made, if necessary.

Entertainment

Our in-pod kiosk can be configured to allow inmates to access a variety of approved multimedia applications through a secure personal device. Offerings in the GTL entertainment portfolio provide access to the largest MP3/4, video, and e-book secure library available.

In-Facility Services

Introducing GTL Genesis to a facility provides an automated alternative to manual, behind-the-bars activities. In addition, the GTL Genesis provides the opportunity to introduce new interactive technologies that help inmates manage their incarcerated time.
