We recently were able to utilize the software's
extensive search capabilities to narrow down a suspect of a serious
crime. We narrowed a search in the system only knowing an alias and
race by using partial first names and physical description. We located
the suspect's photo, and using a line up, got a positive ID from our
victim. The bad guy is now behind bars.

to prove to be an invaluable tool in intelligence gathering. In December,
our investigative unit provided information obtained through LazerPhone®
on the whereabouts of Jessie James Caston, one of the FBI´s 10
most-wanted fugitives, to the FBI and the Louisiana State Police, which
was vital in the capture of Caston on December 20, 2000.
Although LazerPhone® has proven
its effectiveness at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, as we have developed
numerous cases against inmates, it has proven its effectiveness in assisting
other law enforcement agencies in the apprehension of armed and extremely

"In the last year since
we have been using the LazerPhone® system, astounding things have
happened. Two instances immediately come to mind. The first situation
where information was gathered helped in the conviction of a suspect
for first-degree murder. The second was a conversation between a jail
inmate and his girlfriend. Through this conversation, we received enough
information to get a search warrant for the inmate´s property.
The warrant netted navigation 70 pounds of red phosphorus, which is
a key ingredient in the manufacturing of methamphetamine."

The Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office
has been a satisfied customer of Digital Solutions Inc. for over six
years. Our jail houses over 1150 inmates, a job made easier by the robust
capabilities of the DSI Offender Management System (OMS). Additionally,
the OMS is accessed by over 300 sworn deputy sheriffs and approximately
20 civilian staff members on any given day. The OMS has the most capability
and flexibility of any Jail Management System I have seen or read about.
To keep up with ever changing trends in the corrections business I think
one of the reasons for their ability to be an industry leader is DSI's
yearly User Group meeting. At this meeting actual users of the OMS product
are given the opportunity to express their ideas for future upgrades.
Once agreed upon as being worthwhile by a consensus of users, and the
product programmers, these suggestions are usually incorporated into
one of the two.
